Every excursion into nature is an experience. Especially when you stand high up at the finish line after your physical performance and look down into the valley with satisfaction. The boundless feeling of freedom flows through your body. At this point, it becomes clear every time why you overcome your inner bastard again and again.
But at this very moment I don't know for sure. My thighs burn with every pedal stroke, I only use the E-support of my bike minimally. Turn by turn we screw our way up towards Loischkopf. There is no lack of motivation since the start on the Tschengla in Bürserberg. Our attention is completely focused on the track and the impressive surroundings. We try to keep our speed. I love to go to my limits in mountain biking. The last meters before the highest point of our tour we pedal with a lot of power.
I got it. Take a deep breath. Let your gaze rise and wander over the panorama that spreads out before you. The valley floor lies far below us, the frame is formed by the mountain peaks of the Rätikon, strung together like a string of pearls. And there it is: the feeling of freedom, of being able to achieve everything if you want to. In addition, the amazement about the landscape doesn't diminish, although this is already the third tour in two days that we are riding in the Brandnertal.
We pause for a last moment and go deep inside ourselves before we start the descent. Because downhill runs are not there to relax, as my companion notes with a smile. And especially not today, as we have set ourselves a new challenge. After countless meters on wide forest roads we want to descend today on a flow trail. For this we have rented special fully-equipped bikes, which make riding with their suspension more comfortable.
The first meters on the "Panorama Trail" I hold on to the handlebars. But once I have found my pace, I fall more and more into the fluid rhythm of waves and curves. My head is empty, only the ideal line and the next obstacle find room. It's not just me, I notice, we both get completely absorbed in this rollercoaster feeling. Wow, why didn't we try the trail ride before!
Only once we stop at the edge of the trail, get some new breath and make room for some more experienced bikers. The possibility to switch to the parallel running freight road is not an option for us. We prefer to go around one or two waves if they don't feel comfortable with us. The decision at the top station of the Dorfbahn to take the Flowtrail also for the descent into the valley is quickly made.
Arriving on fire, we swing off the saddle pumped up with adrenalin. What an experience. What a day.
