Not all children jump joyfully into the air when it is said: Today we are going hiking. This is also the case with our family. My eight-year-old daughter Julia and her brother Elias, who is three years younger, slip into their hiking boots only very reluctantly after breakfast. They still don't feel the passion for the Alps that their father Peter and I share. But when we get on the panorama lift at the middle station, they are really gripped by the high mountains - even if only for a short time. After getting off, the adventure playground is already much more interesting. Meanwhile, we grown-ups get a coffee and enjoy the panorama further from the terrace. It's nice when there is enough time for everyone.
Then we will start on the Brandnertal Natursprünge-Weg. From station to station we learn more about nature, how the water filters itself, which stones lie on the mountain and what an alpine dairyman does on the alp all day. The children run around the race, can't wait to open the next drawer or turn the disc to learn more about nature and its wonders. Peter and I walk leisurely behind them, enjoying the sunny day, the clear air and the smell of the fir trees. Children, do you hear the squirrel between the branches?
Soon the forest in front of us clears up and we reach the Parpfienzalpe. Time for an extensive break. Together we sit down on a bench and order cheese, sausage and elderberry juice for everyone. It is comforting to know that my children here eat regional products of the best quality. If only it were that easy at home in the city.
We have to decide on the way forward. Do we still want to explore the Tierwelten-Weg or do we hike back to the railway via the Barfuß-Weg? The children agree - they want to get out of their hiking boots. Let's go. It's wonderful how the forest floor, fir cones or the crystal clear water of the mountain stream feels on your bare toes.
When we get out of the village train back in the valley, the afternoon sun is shining with full power. What to do now? Fortunately this question is always answered quickly in the Brandnertal.
We get our bathing things and jump into the cool natural swimming lake in the middle of the village. Was it a nice hiking day? No, a great day of adventure and discovery.
