Basic Ski Touring Course on request

We've all been there: you're on a fantastic ski tour, see an untracked slope and ask yourself questions like "Is this slope dangerous or not?" or "What does "STOP OR GO" say at 35° and avalanche warning level 3?".

On this jam-packed day, we will bring you up to speed on snow science, avalanche awareness, avalanche situation reports, hazard assessment and companion rescue.
We'll be out and about practising in the snow, looking at the snowpack and analysing different slopes, downhill and uphill routes. We also look at the avalanche report, tour planning and the theory of snow and avalanche awareness.

You will also find out what the rapidly growing market in this area has to offer in terms of safety equipment and aids, which products are interesting and useful and how they are used.

Location: Sonntag-Stein ski area

Meeting point: 09:00 at the Sonntag-Stein cable car valley station

Duration: 1 day, end of the event approx. 16:00

Included services: Course supervision by a state-certified ski guide

Services not included: Travel, ski pass / ski tour map for two days, catering

Equipment: You will receive an equipment list after your registration.

Note: We end the day at a cosy mountain hut in the ski area - the best opportunity to fortify ourselves with a traditional Walser meal for the last descent and the journey home. Up on the mountain, after an eventful day in the snow, it tastes particularly good!

Participants: max. 8 participants

Requirements:

- Experience in ski touring, snow and avalanche awareness
- Descents in easy terrain away from the piste are easy to do
- Stamina for short ascents with touring skis (up to 300 metres in altitude)

(The number of persons refers to all registered participants)

Registration deadline:
10 days before the start of the event (remaining places can also be booked at short notice)

We organise this course in cooperation with the Alpenverein Vorarlberg. If a date is already fully booked, there may still be places available on the Alpine Club's website.
