From the Faschinajoch, head along the practice lift towards Tiefenwald. You will soon be immersed in the wintry seclusion and tranquillity of the biosphere reserve core zone. On the way, Wilfried Türtscher, a retired forest warden, explains what makes the Tiefenwald forest so special and what characterises it as a core zone and what wildlife tracks you will encounter. The afternoon can end with a cup of tea in one of the inns in Faschina.
